Welcome to the possibilities of the present moment
I believe we all have a desire to find and express our authentic selves and find joy and meaning in the relationships we choose. Among the most important aspects of relationships are the sense of safety, connection and pleasure that flows from what we do together. I understand how much life and family stress, unmet needs, past trauma and broken trust can lead to disconnection and disillusionment. Much of the work I do is with people who long to reconnect and be seen by one another with a fresh outlook on life and love.
Mindfulness, as the experience of being aware in the present moment, without judgement, is a common denominator in many therapeutic approaches. Being mindful, or present, in relationship is about taking a step back to learn what is essential to one’s own and one another’s well-being; and can lead us to focus on what is happening in the moment, rather than ruminating about the past or worrying about the future.
Exploring and practicing ways to be present in your life and in your relationship and paying attention creates space for those elements of the relationship that need tending to. Our work together explores the possibilities of present moment practices that help recenter our connection to our bodies, our emotions, and our meaningful relationships
I have 20 years of experience in mental health counseling, from my roots in a community based, family services setting to couple's counseling and sex therapy in private practice. Mindfulness practices and spirituality motivate me on a personal level and also inform my therapeutic approach. I maintain a curiosity about the connections between our minds and bodies, as well as the intersectionality of culture, identity and community in our lives and relationships.
My lived experiences have provided insight into the challenges of parenting, family dynamics and secure relationship building. I maintain a sense of well-being and healing for myself through a connection with nature, spending time in the forest and tending to growing things both in my home and in my garden. Walking, dancing, stretching and practicing yoga are foundational for my own sense of well-being.
My evolution as a therapist has grown in the direction of certification in holistic sex therapy and certification as a sex therapist.
Welcome to the possibilities of the present moment where couples and relationship counseling, sexual and intimacy needs and concerns are met with authenticity and sensitivity.
As an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, I have training and background in a range of sexual concerns, needs and dynamics within relationships. Sex therapy encompasses the physical, emotional, psychological, interpersonal, cultural, and physiological aspects of human sexuality.
I offer a positive and informed approach to sexuality that can open pathways to communication, establish healthy boundaries and rebuild intimacy, all vital aspects of maintaining a sense of well-being and growth in relationship.
